Rare ABADEH tribal rug. This Persian rug was handmade in the city of ABADEH of Iran. Abadeh is about halfway between Isfahan and Shiraz. The weaving of rugs for export began in Abadeh after WWII. They are known for geometric lozenge-shaped medallion in center of field. Also, the tree of life motif is popular. These are the better tribal rugs. The knot used is the asymetrical. The weft is two cotton shoots dyed light blue. The ends are a narrow kilim with knotted fringe. The SIZE is 3'5"x5'0" and the colors are all cherish and pleasant. The ground is beige with muted soft red in four corners together with green, gold, blue and soft yellow. It is very dense and durable but not course. The pile is wool(1/4"high). It is new,clean, never been used, no repair, no stain, no problem at all.
This rug is approximately 30-40 years old.
