Quashquai Shiraz rug from the city of Shiraz in
Iran. Size is 3'5" x 5'7". It is an old Shiraz and is perfect
for collectors. This Shiraz rug is made in the vicinity
of Quashquai in the Southern Iran. This particular
rug is made by nomads who would constantly travel across
desert as they would make their rugs. This rug used to be
called the "princess Shiraz" because the
princess of Iran would put them on the walls of her palace.
This is a very old rug it has some repairs and wears as
you see in the picture. you can see the princess medallions
in the this rug. This is the identifying factor of a true
Shirazi rug. There are all types of classical and meaningful
symbolism incorporated in this rug. The smart weavers of
Shiraz very artisitically have incorporated goats hair in
the fringes of the carpet. This is an extremely pretty rug.
Thses are the combination of all the old techinques of weaving
and an indication of very fine quality wool containing.
Such a beautiful rug takes approximately 6 months to make.
