This
is a fine Persian
Maylayer runner. Maylayer is the town south of Hamadan.
These rugs are noted for their good quality, close clipped
pile, and high knot count. A Turkish knot is used. The pile
is 100% lustrous wool on a cotton foundation.It measures
3'11"X9'3" . Full pile. Perfect condition.
No wear or faults of any kind. Central medallions, soft
muted terra cotta and dark blue colors are all characteristic
of the Maylayer. Vegetable dyes are generally used.Medium
blue wefts against white warps show up strongly as clear
white specks all over the back of the rug. Ends and sides
all original. Nice wide runner size. very pretty colors.
