Baluchi
Tribal Rug. The Baluchi Tribes are nomads, living with their
sheep and goats in the country around Meshed and southwards
toward the Persian Gulf. Occasionally, they may cross a
frontier, for such things are not taken very seriously.
Their chief concern is to find good pastures for their flocks.
Ordinary Baluchi rugs are of quite good quality, knotted
on a foundation of wool and cattlehair, and with the Senneh
knot. The usual colors are red, and sometimes brown with
blue, and a little white. The designs are geometrical, but
often more imaginative than those of Afghan rugs. This rug
is a typical Baluchi with red color, about 5'x3'.
